We are proud to announce that we’re finalists in the 2021 Northern Rivers Regional Business Awards for business excellence in sustainability!
At Four Drunk Parrots sustainability is at the heart of all we do. After all, our mission is aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Also, we’re continuously working to promote prosperity and protect the environment.
Tackling climate change and helping preserve the planet for generations to come is our priority. We’re green coding websites or picking up bags of rubbish by hand from the marina and so much more.
We have an opportunity to reflect on the goals, strategies, and vision that have shaped our success. We are finalists for business excellence in sustainability for the 2021 Northern Rivers Regional Business Awards.
How we’re making a difference
We are the first and only company in the Northern Rivers and one of few globally, to be Climate Neutral Certified. Climate Neutral Certification works to decrease global carbon emissions by getting brands to measure, offset, and reduce the carbon they emit. When a brand gets certified, it achieves zero net carbon emissions for all of the carbon it creates. Meanwhile, we are also supporting and assisting our clients to follow suit.
Four Drunk Parrots is a member of 1% For the Planet so, one percent of our revenues go to vetted environmental nonprofits.
We also introduced a sustainable purchasing policy. This includes a preference, where possible, to purchase from businesses that identify as:
- Certified B Corporation
- Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certified
- Energy Star Certified
- FSC Certified
- 1% For the Planet Certified Member
- Women-led
- Indigenous-owned
- Locally produced
- Social Enterprise
- Fairtrade
- Based within 100km of 4DP offices
We are on track to remove 100 bags of rubbish by hand this year from our immediate local environment. (the Richmond River foreshore and Ballina Marina).
We are a certified B Corp. Certified B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance. Criteria include public transparency and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. Above all, these corporations are accelerating a global culture shift to redefine success in business and build a more inclusive and sustainable economy.
How we can all make a difference
We recognise that there is an opportunity in the Northern Rivers region for businesses. Whether big or small, businesses can be environmental stewards and leaders in sustainability. Our pristine beaches, stunning hinterlands, and abundance of wildlife are beacons of hope. They are also frequent reminders of the wonders of nature and why we need to work together to preserve it.
The UN SDGs are at the heart of our business and part of our mission. Big or small, every business can play a part in helping to achieve the SDGs. Set out in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the 17 SDGs provide a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet. Now and into the future.
The SDGs recognise that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies. These strategies should improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth. All while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.
It’s the decade of action. It’s well and truly time to collectively pull up our socks and commit to making a tangible difference in the world. Whether your business aligns with the SDGs or starts with small meaningful actions we can all work together for a more sustainable future.
Celebrating business excellence in sustainability
While we don’t embrace sustainability to be recognised for it, we are proud to be finalists for business excellence in sustainability for the 2021 Northern Rivers Regional Business Awards.
The awards bring businesses from around the region together to celebrate business excellence with winners progressing through to the state awards. We would love to progress to the state awards to represent the Northern Rivers region. And showcase to all of New South Wales what businesses can do to promote prosperity and protect the planet.
Our parrots will be donning their fanciest outfits for the virtual awards ceremony on the 23rd of October and we hope you’ll be cheering us on!
