Paper Wings

Case Study - Website Development, Inclusive Design

About Paper Wings

Paper Wings strive to bring people together using the power of the written word.
Based in the Northern Rivers, the organisation facilitates sharing stories from those who have already experienced life with disability, with those who are only just beginning their journey. By sharing messages of understanding and hope, Paper Wings strive to foster connection and build community.

Having worked successfully with Paper Wings’ parent company Social Futures previously, Four Drunk Parrots was the best fit to help Paper Wings foster human connection in the digital space.

How did we help

The initial brief from Paper Wings asked for an inclusive, fun and easy to navigate one-page website. The website’s goal was to create positivity and facilitate story sharing between people with different backgrounds and experiences. Some requirements of the build were to have a fun animation, readable large font, and not too many colours so as to be compliant with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

Four Drunk parrots ran with the brief, creating a fun, approachable and inclusive website. We created an engaging animation without too many colours for the website’s dynamic homepage. We also ensured the story sharing feature was accessible by using large fonts and labelling form fields in accordance with WCAG. Additionally, we provided easy to navigate options to search stories by topic or hashtag to easily find relevant stories and help relate to others.

This was an exciting and rewarding build for our Four Drunk Parrots team and we can’t wait for it to launch soon!
